His Army description from Adjutant General Wm. H. Kerschner on 24 Jun 1926: age 34, eyes dark, black hair, 5 1/2 ft tall, dark complexion, nativity Germany, occupation blacksmith. Discharged at Camp Stanley, Texas on 18 Aug 1865.

• Biography. After the Civil war they moved to Henderson MN where they owned and operated the McClellan Hotel. He was accidently killed by a railroad train on 22 jun 1881. He was accidently killed by a railroad train on 22 jun 1881. He was taking some horses to Saint Paul, MN and the horses became frightened by the train.
