From the Gaylord Hub: Last Friday morning, about 4 AM, Mrs Samuel Steinke passed away, after a brief illness. In January she had passed her 57th birthday. She was born in Germany in 1829 and came to this country with her family in 1865. the funeral service was held in the German Lutheran church of when Rev.. Kretchmar is pastor. Her remains were laid to rest in the cemetery new New Rome, MN. She had a sister, Mrs Ritter, Hutchinson, MN and a brother Mr A. M. Schnell in this country.

The cemetery is two miles west of New Rome, Sibley County, the first cemetery in that locality.

  Noted events in her life were:

• Immigration, 1865. Anna disliked the sea, so they made Germany their home until immigrating to the United States.

Anna married Samuel STEINKE, son of STEINKE and Unknown, in 1848. (Samuel STEINKE was born on 17 Aug 1817 in Floth, Netzekreis, Pomerania and died on 8 Jan 1891 in Hutchinson, McLeod, Minnesota, USA.)
