He was council treasurer and executive board member of the California Inland Empire Council, Boy Scouts of America, holder of the Silver Beaver Award from the local council and a 62 year veteran of the scouting movement.

He was the organizer of the San Bernardino District Committee of the UCLA Alumni Scholarship Program and was a Director of Crawford Investment Co.

He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist.
