David Walter STEINHAUS
David spent his working career from 1952 to 1979 at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM as a physicist. He developed and used new instruments for high-accuracy measurements on the optical spectra of uranium and was one of the first to make extensive use of high-speed digital computers in spectroscopic research. In 1979 David left Los Alamos to become the Distinguished Visiting Professor of Physics at Southwestern at Memphis College (now Rhodes College) in Memphis, TN. In 1984 he moved to Albuquerque, NM where he teach computer classes at a senior center and works at the city genealogical library.
Born on Oak Leaf farm near Neillsville, WI.
