Mrs. John Barnes, Former Princeton Resident, Is Dead (September 12, 1959)

PRINCETON - Mrs. John Barnes, 57, a former resident of Princeton, died Friday evening at a Madison hospital. She had been in failing health for about two years, and suffered a stroke Sunday.

The former Lydia Ponto, she was born in the town of Shields, Marquette County, July 20, 1902. Her parents were the lat Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Ponto. She was married at St. John's Lutheran Church here on July 1, 1945, to John Barnes. They operated a bakery in Madison for many years.

Surviving are her husband: two sisters, Mrs. Dora Sommerfeldt, Green Lake, and Mrs Helen Schult, North Lake, Ill. and a brother Ewald Ponto, Green Lake. A brother Edward Ponto, Neshkoro, proceeded her in death.

The remains are at the Wachholz Funeral Home, Arrangements for services have not been made.
